Okay, this is a blog entry that we’ve been wanting to post from the moment we were hired to do the shoot. There is a relatively new hotel on St Pete Beach called The Postcard Inn that has been making some major waves locally and otherwise with its fresh and unique styling, its classy relaxed atmosphere, and we can personally attest to it’s DELICIOUS food (shout-out to Wildwood BBQ & Burger and to their Shrimp Diablo!). Brides, check out the links above and give Jillian a call to see all of the amazing wedding setups that this literally one-of-a-kind location has to offer.
It’s easy to see the appeal of such a beautiful hotel from a vacation standpoint, but The Postcard Inn wanted to showcase the uniqueness of their property from the perspective of weddings and events–so K&K Photography was hired to do just that. We were extremely fortunate to be able to work with Amanda and Matt from MMD Events, and before we go any further we absolutely must mention how hard-working, professional, creative and all-around AMAZING they are. The photos shown below are just a glimpse of what they are capable of–we are continually impressed. The other fantastic vendors included Lauren from Every Last Detail, who lent her superior styling skills to the project; Christine from Femme Akoi Makeup rocked makeup/hair; Judy from The Dressing Room, who provided the beautiful bridal gowns as well as the stunning and colorful bridesmaids dresses; Andy and Matt from Indie Atlantic for their video expertise and their great sense of humor; Mens Wearhouse for the male-models’ attire; Signature Events by Design for the beautiful chiavari chairs used in the Garden for our last shot of the day; Seaside Invitations for their beautiful invitations and menu cards, and for bringing it all together VERY last-minute (thank you again!); Breezin’ Entertainment for the steel drum player–awesome; our dedicated talent, the models, Raphael, Mia, Stacey, Melissa and Natalie; and last but certainly not least, Jillian, the Senior Catering Manager at the Postcard Inn for hosting us all at her beautiful location.
Our shoot was organized strategically into several different “looks” and locations, each one designed to highlight some aspect of the hotel. Each set of photos below will have a header so you know particular spot at the hotel where it was shot. We began prep for our first shot at about 5AM and started shooting at around 7AM. That first location was the poolside reception setup.
We then moved on to what is called the North Picnic area, which is located just next to the Postcard Inn bar and directly alongside the beach, making it a perfect location for a post-wedding BBQ, party or reception.
Next we relocated to the Sunset Ballroom, located on the 2nd level of the hotel above the lobby. MMD Events did a great job setting up the ballroom and styling it for a classy, nautical-themed event.
Jillian, Lauren and MMD Events then moved on to set up the next locations while we photographed the guest rooms for the hotel. Each room is different from the next. Comfortable and VERY relaxed.
Then I snapped a few photos of the breakfast nook area, which happened to be set up for a rehearsal dinner party that was just about to begin
Meanwhile Christine was prepping Mia and Raphael, our “bride” and “groom”, for our next set of shots of just the two of them in the lobby. These shots would give potential brides and grooms a sense of what kinds of photos their wedding photographer might capture of the two of them on their wedding day. These shots are some of my personal favorites.
Then a quick jaunt outside to show what a little romance mixed with a beautiful setting sun can deliver. 🙂
Next we moved toward the beach to get a few photos of the “bride” and “groom” at the Postcard Inn bar, which I’m told is packed daily and I don’t doubt it. Great spot–see for yourself.
Meanwhile Matt, Amanda and Lauren had completed the beach ceremony setups, so we moved right along and were very excited with what they had set up for us to shoot.
Next we moved back up to the Sunset Ballroom, located on the 2nd floor, which has a terrace/deck that overlooks the hotel’s courtyard and beyond that, the pool and ocean. A great spot for a ceremony followed by an indoor reception in the Sunset Ballroom, if you ask us. And just look at that happy couple. 🙂
Our last shot location was just receiving its final decor touches. This is the location that I feel is going to hook DOZENS of brides this season, and it’s located in the garden, which is the center of the Postcard Inn’s courtyard. We are absolutely in love with these setups, for obvious reasons. Again, a tip of the cap to Lauren from ELD and Amanda/Matt from MMD. Beautiful.
A huge thank you again to The Postcard Inn and to all of contributing vendors who all helped make this shoot go off without a hitch.
